The app [Yo] is easily the worst piece of software that I’ve ever used. If Yo was a car, it would be totalled. It was hacked by three Georgia Tech students on Friday, giving them access to users’ cell-phone numbers. Another hacker caused Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” to replace the app’s normal notification sound, a voice—specifically, Arbel’s voice—saying, “Yo!” There is no way to delete your account through the app—and there is no Twitter-style account verification, so a Canadian accountant has been Yo-ing people from the ELONMUSK handle. The first readers of this article might still grab NEWYORKTIMES, NEWYORKJETS, GOLDMANSACHS, THEUNITEDNATIONS, ANTONINSCALIA, or MICHELLEOBAMA. Just don’t type the username incorrectly. There is no way to change it.
